Cole Palmer has expressed the Chelsea team’s excitement for Alfie Gilchrist after he scored his debut senior goal during Monday night’s 6-0 thrashing of Everton. Palmer himself netted four times during the game, contributing to Chelsea’s push for European football.
Nicolas Jackson also found the back of the net in the first half, while 20-year-old Gilchrist, coming on as a late substitute, sealed the victory with his first-ever Chelsea goal in the last minute. Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Palmer shared his joy for Gilchrist’s achievement.
“Everyone was buzzing for Alfie Gilchrist. He has been a Chelsea fan all his life, and everyone is thrilled for him,” Palmer stated. “After the previous game against Sheffield United, we needed to come out and show something. It was a good performance tonight.”

Gilchrist himself was elated after scoring and during the post-match interview, saying, “It was crazy. I joined in the attack, saw an opportunity, and smashed it as hard as I could! Every time I’ve been here as a fan, I’ve seen everybody else score, and to do it myself is a dream come true for my family.”
Having joined the Chelsea academy in 2014 from Queens Park Rangers, Gilchrist has risen through the ranks and captained the Under-23 side last season. With 13 appearances for Chelsea this season and a recent contract extension until 2026, Gilchrist’s future looks promising at Stamford Bridge.
