Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has asserted that Chelsea holds a significant edge over his Liverpool squad this season due to their absence from European competition. Liverpool, alongside Arsenal, is widely regarded as one of Manchester City’s primary contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Klopp’s team has kicked off the 2023-2024 campaign impressively, securing victory in five out of their six Premier League matches. The only other outcome was a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on the season’s opening day.
On the other hand, Chelsea has faced a challenging period since that encounter, managing to secure only one victory in their first six Premier League matches of the season.

Despite their underwhelming performances this season, Klopp believes that Chelsea, along with Tottenham, holds a significant advantage in the race for a top-four finish due to their well-rested players.
“Chelsea and Tottenham have no European football,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League tie with Tottenham on Saturday.
“Two heavyweights not in European football, they have the whole week to train when others travel. It is a massive advantage.
“Getting into the Champions League this year will be a massive, difficult task because they will be well rested.”
