We’ve got Tommy Tuchel, the visiting fans could be heard chanting from the Manchester stands. The former owner Roman Abramovich’s name was also vociferously sung in the away end due to the club’s awful performance.

There were mocking screams of “we’ve had a shot” after a rare attempt on goal as Chelsea battled against a tough City outfit.

Potter’s tenure appeared promising after winning five straight games to open October, but with Chelsea’s 4-1 loss against his former team Brighton three months ago, things have radically changed.

Some fans have been reminded of his predecessor, who won the Champions League and Club World Cup while working at Stamford Bridge.

Sunday’s goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and others saw Potter’s squad lose the FA Cup.

Potter’s team is now in 10th place in the Premier League with only two wins in their previous nine games across all competitions.

After replacing Tuchel in September, Potter said that he comprehends the anger felt by Chelsea’s supporters.

He said: ‘Clearly we are suffering and it’s not nice at all,’ Potter said. ‘We can’t do anything other than do our jobs better and work harder.

‘You can understand the fans’ frustration and we respect that. There are always other opinions and criticism because the results haven’t been positive.

‘We’re going through a bad moment and sometimes when you have them you need something to blame. We have to stick together and keep working.’
