Chelsea is poised to make Victor Osimhen their top priority in the striker market, with indications from Italian sources suggesting the Napoli forward may be receptive to a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international is anticipated to command an asking price well exceeding £100 million, potentially surpassing the Premier League record of £106.8 million set by Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez. While a January deal might pose challenges due to the substantial figure, it aligns with Chelsea’s long-term ambitions in the striking department.

There’s a connection between Osimhen and Chelsea through Kalidou Koulibaly, who departed the club for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Koulibaly, having friends at Chelsea, shares a camaraderie with Osimhen, his former teammate at Napoli since the striker’s arrival from Lille in 2020.

Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli has faced challenges this season, including his representatives contemplating legal action over a TikTok video posted on the official club account, mocking the player. According to Italian sources, Chelsea would be a viable option for Osimhen if he decides to part ways with Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Chelsea’s summer signing, Nicolas Jackson, 22, from Villarreal, has been impactful, scoring seven goals this season. Additionally, Christopher Nkunku’s return from injury provides central options, even though he tends to operate as a deep-lying forward.

Despite the presence of Armando Broja, 22, in the striker lineup, there remains a desire to bolster the squad with a dedicated No. 9. Osimhen, with six goals in 11 appearances this campaign, presents a compelling option for Chelsea, especially after his crucial role in securing Napoli’s title last season.
