Chelsea secured their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-final with a thrilling victory over Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.
Despite gifting Callum Wilson an early goal with some abysmal defending, Chelsea managed to level the score in stoppage time through Mykhailo Mudryk’s 92nd-minute strike, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Chelsea successfully converted all four of their penalties, while Kieran Trippier missed for the Blues, and Matt Ritchie’s crucial attempt was saved by goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, ultimately guiding Chelsea to the final four.

The game kicked off with Conor Gallagher hitting the crossbar from distance, and despite Newcastle taking the lead through Wilson, Chelsea responded late in the game with Mudryk’s equalizer.
The first half saw Chelsea dominate possession but struggle to create significant chances. The introduction of Christopher Nkunku in the second half aimed to spark a change, but it was Mudryk’s last-minute heroics that took the game to penalties.
The shootout saw Cole Palmer, Wilson, Gallagher, and Nkunku score for Chelsea, while Trippier missed and Petrovic’s save from Ritchie secured Chelsea’s place in the semi-final.
