Ancelotti defended his players, noting their resilience in past challenges. In his post-match press conference, he said, “The result doesn’t reflect what happened. They deserved the win, but it was close until the first goal. We have to learn from this. Self-criticism is key, but we don’t throw everything away—our first half was solid.”

He added, “The last time we lost 4-0 at home to Barcelona, we went on to win La Liga and the Champions League. We won’t stop fighting.”
Despite adding Kylian Mbappe over the summer, Madrid has struggled to find consistency. A second-half comeback helped them edge out Borussia Dortmund midweek in the Champions League, but no such revival appeared against Barca, who looked more likely to extend their lead.
