Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti suggested that Xavi will come to terms with the reality that being sacked is a routine aspect of a coach’s profession, following Xavi’s dismissal from Barcelona.

Xavi had previously announced his intention to step down as Barcelona’s head coach at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. However, after a notable improvement in performance towards the end of the campaign, he reversed his decision. Nevertheless, Barcelona opted to relieve him of his duties anyway, appointing Hansi Flick as his successor.

“It’s part of a coach’s job,” remarked Ancelotti. “I believe Xavi might feel a bit unsettled by what has transpired, as it might be the first time he has faced dismissal. However, with time, I think he will come to see it as a natural part of the profession.”

“When the relationship between the club and the coach is strained, it’s best to go separate ways. I’ve experienced it numerous times myself, whether at Napoli, Bayern Munich, or Chelsea… it’s preferable to part ways, and I believe it’s for the best for Xavi and possibly even for Barcelona.”

Xavi departs Barcelona after returning to the club in November 2021, with the team placed ninth in La Liga. He managed to guide them to a second-place finish that season before securing the La Liga title the following year.

During the 2023/24 season, Barcelona secured another top-two finish despite playing away from their home ground at Camp Nou. However, they relinquished their title to Ancelotti’s Real Madrid and ended the campaign without any silverware.
