Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti remains unfazed by Jude Bellingham’s drop in goal-scoring this season, emphasizing that the English midfielder is still “doing very well.”
Bellingham had a remarkable start at Madrid last year, scoring five times in his first four La Liga appearances despite not being known primarily as a goalscorer. By his 15th game, he had netted 14 times, breaking a club record shared by legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stefano, and 1940s forward Pruden.
However, Bellingham’s role has shifted this season, and while he’s yet to score for Madrid, he has found the net for England. Ancelotti defended the young star’s form, saying, “He’s doing very well, making progress, and his condition is strong even without the goals. His role is crucial, and he knows it well.”

Discussing the team’s adjustments, Ancelotti added, “Last season, we lost an important striker in Karim [Benzema] and made up for it with goals from Jude, Brahim [Diaz], and Joselu. Now we have a forward who can score 35 or 40 goals,” referring to Kylian Mbappe’s free transfer arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe, who has scored 39 or more goals in each of the past six seasons, already has eight goals for Madrid in 13 appearances. Despite a demanding year impacting his fitness, Ancelotti expressed confidence in the French star’s contributions, saying, “We’re pleased with his goals, and while he was pivotal in our first two against Dortmund, there’s still more to come. But we’re in no rush.”
