“Callum Hudson-Odoi might now depart Chelsea for regular game time,” Romano tweeted. Southampton had already requested CHO be loaned out and is now pushing. He was also recently discussed with Leicester; the player has the last say. The decision on Hudson-future Odoi’s will be made in the upcoming days.
But as recently as last week, the 21-year-old was again mentioned in connection with a move to St James’ Park. After strengthening his defense in January and earlier this summer, Eddie Howe has made acquiring a winger and a center striker his key targets during the summer transfer window.
While West Ham United activated Maxwel Cornet’s ยฃ17.5 million release clause to sign the Ivorian from Burnley, Newcastle United were unable to reach an agreement for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.
During his 15 appearances for Chelsea last season, Hudson-Odoi recorded one goal and three assists before suffering an Achilles tendon injury in March that ended his campaign early. He came back for Chelsea’s preseason tour of the US, but he wasn’t in the team when the Blues beat Everton 1-0 on Saturday to kick off their campaign.
