Victor Boniface has expressed his disappointment at being overlooked for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

Last month, CAF revealed its list of 10 nominees, which included Boniface’s international teammates, Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong. However, the 23-year-old striker was notably absent, despite his standout performances for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

“Of course, I’m disappointed not being shortlisted. Given what I did last season, I should be disappointed, but I donโ€™t stress about it,” he said in an interview with BBCโ€™s Oluwashina Okeleji.

When asked who he would choose as the winner, Boniface responded, “If I were to pick the winner, it would be Lookman 100 percent. And if I were there, I would pick myself.”
