Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has admitted he is putting in extra effort to keep Victor Boniface focused on football, given the forward’s cheerful personality.
Boniface, known for his playful interactions on social media, was a standout player in Leverkusen’s successful Bundesliga campaign last season. The 23-year-old contributed 14 goals and nine assists in 23 league appearances for Die Werkself.
Alonso acknowledged that Boniface’s lighthearted nature has made him a popular figure among his teammates, but added that it requires more effort to keep the Super Eagles star focused on the team’s objectives.

“All the teammates really like him; he creates a great atmosphere. Sometimes, you have to push him to focus solely on football, but that’s my job, and that’s what I’m trying to do,” Alonso told Efotbal.
