Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has affirmed his current contentment at St. James’ Park but has acknowledged his intentions to eventually depart the club.
Guimaraes swiftly became a pivotal figure for Newcastle following his move from Lyon in January 2022. However, reports hint at the possibility of his availability for transfer this summer as the Magpies aim to generate funds to evade financial penalties.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are among the clubs speculated to be interested in Guimaraes, who revealed uncertainty about his future while on international duty.

“I’m uncertain about what lies ahead,” he stated to the press. “I’m enjoying my time at the club, but in football, one can never predict. While I’m content here, I’m also aware of the unpredictability. I’ve always aspired to play in the Premier League, and things have been positive since my arrival at Newcastle. Although I envision a lengthy stay here, I also harbor ambitions to explore opportunities elsewhere.”
In continental Europe, both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Guimaraes, with reports indicating a £100m release clause in his contract.
Guimaraes conceded that Newcastle might be grappling with the consequences of their rapid rise. Despite securing qualification for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League in their inaugural full season under Saudi Public Investment Fund ownership, sustaining that level of success has proven challenging.
“This season has presented its challenges,” he remarked. “Injuries and suspensions have plagued us, but this is all part of the journey. When I joined the club, I anticipated such hurdles. Our journey has been accelerated. Within my two years here, we reached a final, although we fell short. Nonetheless, it was a significant achievement for the club after two decades.
“Undoubtedly, I’m disappointed with our current campaign, but I believe we still have an opportunity to secure a seventh-place finish, potentially earning a spot in the Europa League or Conference League.”
