Chelsea suffered a disastrous 1-0 loss to an alert Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 encounter at the Signal Iduna Park Friday night, extending their winless record to four straight games (D3).

Both teams started the second half in exciting fashion after a lackluster first half that resulted in a scoreless stalemate. They were both looking for a winner. Karim Adeyemi’s sensational solo goal following a rapid transition gave the hosts the lead in the 63rd minute, though.

The visitors made a comeback and attempted to score an equalizer in the final ten minutes, but Dortmund’s defense held firm to secure a 1-0 victory and they will enter their rematch against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with a slim lead.
