Bayern Munich has officially confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will depart from the club at the conclusion of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season.
The team has faced a challenging campaign under Tuchel’s leadership, currently trailing by eight points in the Bundesliga title race and on the verge of Champions League elimination following a recent 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Despite substantial summer investments, including over €150m on star players Harry Kane and Kim Min-jae, Bayern Munich has struggled to meet expectations.
In a statement announcing the news, club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen stated, “In a good, open discussion, we came to the decision to end our working relationship by mutual agreement in the summer. Our goal is to pursue a new footballing direction with a new head coach for the 2024/25 season. Until then, every individual at the club is expressly called upon to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and Bundesliga.”

Dreesen held the team accountable and expressed confidence in reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, especially with the support of fans at the Allianz Arena.
Tuchel also commented on his impending departure, saying, “We have agreed that we will end our working relationship at the end of this season. Until then, I will, of course, continue to do everything I can with my coaching staff to achieve maximum success.”
