Thomas Tuchel has reportedly caught Barcelona’s attention, according to a report by the Spanish publication Fichajes. The Catalan giants see the 49-year-old German coach as a potential Xavi Hernandez replacement because the current Barcelona manager is under a lot of strain as a result of recent results.

In the first eight months of having Xavi Hernandez as their coach, Barcelona appeared to be heading in the right direction. The 42-year-old had managed some encouraging outcomes, including a significant victory over Real Madrid the previous campaign. And Xavi enjoyed Joan Laporta’s support even though Barcelona was unsuccessful in winning the UEFA Europa League.

Barcelona also had a fantastic start to the 2022–23 season, rising to the top of La Liga after allowing only one goal in the first eight games. Additionally, there was optimism for victory this season despite the Catalan giants’ difficulties in the UEFA Champions League. But Xavi is under more strain as a result of the loss in El Clasico.

On Sunday, Real Madrid outperformed Barcelona handily to retake first place in La Liga. And Joan Laporta and the Barcelona board may be considering their alternatives as the Blaugrana are on the verge of being eliminated from the Champions League following the 3-3 draw with Inter Milan last week. Thus, Thomas Tuchel has become more visible to Barcelona.

Chelsea was most recently under Tuchel’s management, and during his debut campaign, the Blues won the UEFA Champions League. To his credit, the 49-year-old also guided the vessel to safe harbor amid the pervasive doubts that surrounded the Blues when former owner Roman Abramovich was hit with a slew of penalties.

However, Tuchel’s association with Chelsea was abruptly over last month when Todd Boehly gave him the boot. Since then, the German manager has declined a few offers. Tuchel might not be able to decline Barcelona if the Catalan giants make a bid, though.

In order to maintain his position for the time being, Xavi Hernandez must supervise some significant results. Laporta, however, who is a club legend, might be able to provide him with a lengthy rope as well. In the upcoming weeks, it will be interesting to watch if Barcelona can advance under Xavi’s guidance.
