Aston Villa are preparing to strengthen their squad during the upcoming winter transfer window as manager Unai Emery looks to bolster their chances of securing Champions League qualification once again. Among their targets is Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor, a versatile player capable of excelling in central midfield, defensive roles, and even on the left flank.

According to Football Insider, Villa could land Taylor for a fee of around £30 million. The 22-year-old Dutch international, who joined Ajax’s youth academy in 2010 and broke into the first team in 2020, has steadily risen through the ranks to become a key player for the Eredivisie side.

Taylor’s impressive form this season has seen him contribute 10 goal involvements across 22 appearances. Known for his versatility, he has become one of Ajax’s most dependable players, drawing significant interest from several clubs. While primarily a central midfielder, his adaptability makes him a valuable asset, and Emery reportedly sees him as an ideal addition to address Villa’s defensive concerns.

Villa’s defensive struggles have highlighted the need for reinforcements, and Taylor could provide much-needed stability in front of the backline. However, prying him away from Ajax won’t be easy. With a contract running until 2027, the Dutch club are reluctant to let him go without a substantial offer.

To fund the transfer, Aston Villa are reportedly planning to offload fringe players during the winter window. Emery’s preference for versatile, hardworking players fits well with Taylor’s profile, making him a key target as Villa look to continue their impressive progress this season.
