Arsenal has communicated to Aaron Ramsdale that they are open to his departure at the conclusion of the season but is not inclined to sell him during the January transfer window, according to sources confirmed by 90min.
Ramsdale, who began the season as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, lost his starting position to summer signing David Raya and has been limited to appearances in the Carabao Cup, where Arsenal were eliminated in the fourth round by West Ham United.
In a rare opportunity to play in the Premier League lineup against Brentford on Saturday, due to Raya’s ineligibility against his parent club ( regarding the option to make Raya’s move permanent), Ramsdale kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win but displayed shaky distribution in the first half, nearly costing Arsenal.

Although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had previously suggested that there was no set number one goalkeeper, with Raya and Ramsdale competing for the position, it is increasingly evident that he views the Spain international as his first choice.
Ramsdale was initially determined to fight for his place upon Raya’s arrival, but he now ideally wishes to leave Arsenal in the January window, even if only on loan, in pursuit of regular playing time.
Nevertheless, Arsenal is not inclined to permit an exit in the upcoming transfer window without securing a replacement, and with their current focus on other priorities, particularly the acquisition of a new midfielder, Ramsdale is expected to remain at the Emirates Stadium for the time being.
Despite Arsenal’s stance, several Premier League clubs in the bottom half of the table have expressed interest in securing Ramsdale’s services. Wolves have been closely monitoring his situation, especially as their current goalkeeper, Jose Sa, is linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Additionally, former clubs Bournemouth and Sheffield United are rumored to consider a move for Ramsdale should he become available.
Ramsdale is on Chelsea’s shortlist of goalkeepers for the long term, and Newcastle also maintains a similar interest. However, both clubs are not looking to make a move for him in the January transfer window.
