Liverpool duo Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister will undergo further assessments after being substituted due to injuries during the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Diogo Jota’s goal secured the win at Selhurst Park and maintained Liverpool’s position at the top of the Premier League as they head into the October international break. However, manager Arne Slot’s satisfaction was dampened by injuries to two key players in his starting lineup.

A statement from Liverpool confirmed: “Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister will undergo further assessment to determine the severity of the injuries they sustained during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Crystal Palace.”

Speaking after the match, Slot expressed concern about Alissonโ€™s availability for Liverpool’s first game following the break, a home fixture against Chelsea.

He stated: “The latest is that we donโ€™t know for sure, but we do know that if a player walks off like he did, it usually means he wonโ€™t be in the Brazil squad. I donโ€™t expect him to play in the first game after the international break. Weโ€™ll have to wait and see, but I assume it will take a few weeks for him to return. I believe itโ€™s a hamstring issue.”

Regarding Mac Allister, Slot said: “He was substituted due to an injury, but I canโ€™t judge how serious it is at this moment. He could have continued, as it happened just before halftime, but he felt it was best not to risk making it worse.

“Itโ€™s unclear whether he can go to Argentina or play there; I canโ€™t provide a definitive answer right now. Itโ€™s a concern in his groin area.”

Liverpool will assess both injuries and inform the Brazilian and Argentinian national teams, as both Alisson and Mac Allister were included in their recently announced squads.
