Former Osun State governor and current interior minister Rauf Aregbesola promised his fans they would discover his true motivations for being involved in Osun politics by the end of 2024.
Several Omoluabi Caucus leaders from around the state attended Aregbesola’s speech during an end-of-year thanksgiving held at Ilesa, Osun State.
Lekan Arogundade posted a video of Aregbesola’s address during the occasion on Facebook.

The former governor described how he was let down in his attempts to make sure the All Progressives Congress ran as a single party in the 2022 governorship race.
Aregbesola said that he had discussed the distribution of positions with APC “overall leader” representatives before to the election, in which the APC’s then-governor, Gboyega Oyetola, lost to Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.
However, Aregbesola said that their party’s “overall leader” had broken the agreements.
He said that he refrained from attending the APC governorship campaign in Osun in 2022 after a campaign leader advised that those who were not invited should not even bother to show up.
Aregbesola continued, saying, “I have not said this before,” in Yoruba. Our overall supervisor instructed us to meet with two of his delegates in Abuja on August 26, 2021.
Representatives of our general leader visited with thirty-one members of my group. Around 10 p.m., the meeting began, and it finished around 4 a.m. The meeting was not attended by me. However, they concurred that those expelled from the party had to be reintegrated.
“Those in attendance also concurred that, given the larger number of people in government at the time, our side should receive one-third of the still-unfilled appointive and elective positions, while they should receive two-thirds.
The spokesman for our general manager expressed admiration. I agreed to whatever my folks had informed them, and I told him as much. But if they want me to come and campaign during the gubernatorial race, I offered them some requirements that I won’t disclose right now. However, we haven’t heard anything else on that arrangement since.
“Anyone who was not invited to the campaign should not attend,” the leader of their governorship campaign stated on OSBC. Thus, I had to avoid it. After hearing such a proclamation, no authentic Yoruba man would continue to enter areas where he was not invited.
They continued after that. They launched a defamation campaign against me. After they failed, they began to hunt for
They consumed their own words. By the time they entered their second year in office, they claimed that their failure to win on the first ballot in the 2018 gubernatorial race was due to their relationship with me. They said we had Ebola in November 2020 in order to break up with us. They claimed that we failed to pay employee wages and pensions. I was hoping to attend Oyetola’s second anniversary in office, but we were informed that attendance was not anticipated.
Regarding his intentions for the state’s politics, he declared, “We remain undisturbed.” God will evaluate each of us according to our contribution to the situation. I purposefully bring it up today because I see people confusing things. But with God’s mercy, you will be aware of our destination by this time in 2024. Everyone would be able to see where the Osun people are going.
