The election of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been declared void by the Court of Appeal located in Abuja.
Remember that on September 20, 2023, a three-judge bench headed by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay dismissed Yusuf by deeming 165,663 of his votes to be void.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not sign or stamp the votes, according to the court, rendering them void.

The governor, running on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), then received 853,939 votes, while Nasir Ganuwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued to receive 890,705 votes.
Subsequently, the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Court declared the APC candidate the genuine victor of the March 18 poll, annulling Yusuf’s election.
In an effort to get the lower court’s decision overturned, Governor Yusuf filed an appeal with the appellate court.
In its decision, the Appeal Court maintained the tribunal’s finding, stating that the governor lacked the necessary qualifications to challenge the vote.
The appeal court stated that at the time of the elections, Governor Yusuf was not a member of the NNPP.
The court rocked for several minutes as Justice Moore Adumein read the unanimous decision, which was met with deafening cheers.
