Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has firmly stated that he harbors no fear about facing Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City in the upcoming weeks.
Following Spurs’ 4-0 defeat by Newcastle United on Saturday, which saw them drop out of the top four on goal difference, Postecoglou’s side were initially scheduled to take on Manchester City next weekend. However, due to City’s involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals, the match has been rescheduled for the final week of the season. Consequently, Spurs have a two-week break until their next fixture against north London rivals Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In a press conference following the disappointing loss at St James’ Park, Postecoglou was asked if he was concerned about facing these two formidable opponents after such a poor performance.

“No! No, no…no,” Postecoglou responded with a laugh.
When pressed to elaborate on the reasons behind Spurs’ defeat, Postecoglou credited Newcastle for their performance and admitted that his team failed to assert control over the game.
“Newcastle were good, credit to them, I thought they were really good today. We just didn’t really get a grip of the game at all,” he remarked. “Right from the start it felt like we allowed Newcastle to dictate the way the game was played, we never really wrestled control at any stage. We paid a price for that.”
Reflecting further on the match, Postecoglou expressed concern about various aspects of Spurs’ performance, acknowledging that they fell short in terms of physicality, technical ability, and tactical execution.
“I was concerned with all of it. I don’t think there was one area that cost us today,” he admitted. “I don’t think there was any part of our game that reached the levels that it needs to for us to be able to play the games on our terms.”
