The Anambra State Police Command reported that it has neutralized one of the thugs and stopped a robbery attempt in Ubiahuikwem, Ihiala Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement released on Monday by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra Police Command. He also said that the exercise was conducted on the suspected robbers by the police special crack squad that Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye had stationed in Ihiala.
He reported that two motorcycles and one automatic pump action rifle had been taken from the thugs.

The statement said, “Weeks before Christmas, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police deployed the Police Special Crack Squad to Ihiala, where they stopped an armed robbery attempt and neutralized one of the thugs.”
Ihiala sons and daughters who had flocked in from the diaspora and other places could now enjoy the holiday season because the historic city had been brought back to peace by the crack squad, which collaborates with the local vigilante.
At Ubiahuikwem, Ihiala, on the evening of January 12, 2024, a middle-aged guy was approached by the gunmen who were trying to take his car.
“The gunmen, who rode two motorcycles, started fire on the police as they saw the squad. In order to prevent them from striking the potential target of the armed robbery, the operatives skillfully challenged them before they quickly left the scene.
“The hoodlums yielded two motorcycles and one automatic pump Action gun.”
