The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun, has detained no fewer than 36 suspected criminals for their alleged involvement in criminal activity in various parts of the state.
The state commander of the Corps, Akogun Adeleye, paraded the suspects at the corps’ headquarters in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday. He said that while some of the suspects were specifically detained for suspected kidnapping activities, others were accused of other crimes like stealing, burglary, and murder, among other things.
He claims that the 19 alleged kidnappers were chosen from the state’s northern senatorial district.

You’ll note that Amotekun Corps personnel are constantly present at every intersection and on every main street; this is done to stop kidnappers from breaking into homes and selecting victims.
“We are parading roughly thirty-six suspects today as well. I would like it to be documented that we have successfully filed three kidnapping activities in the past month. This indicates that there haven’t been any successful kidnapping attempts in the state in the past month.
“Today’s cross-section of these offenders is not the same as our usual parade of twenty, of which fifteen are kidnapping suspects. We continue to be determined to flush out the more suspects in theft and housebreaking that we have today.
We identified roughly 17 potential kidnappers and robbers in a specific region of the state where we conducted surveillance, thanks in part to our intelligence report.
“We have eight cases of shoplifting and about eight cases of housebreaking, in addition to a suspected murderer.”
The commander stated that additional state security agencies provided help in order to make the arrest possible.
“I have to admit that we have been able to lower the amount of criminal activity in the state with the assistance of other state security agencies. These 36 suspects’ cross-section reveals a sharp decline in their activity within the state.

But he made a plea to the state’s traditional leaders to provide the corps with any pertinent information that would help the Amotekun root out the crooks from the state.
