Despite a 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday, the foundation for a brighter future under Amorim is evident. The managerโ€™s approach is already shaping the squad, and Bates reports that two new rules have been enacted to reinforce Amorimโ€™s vision.

New Rules at United

Writing for GiveMeSport, Bates revealed Amorimโ€™s directives:

  1. Mandatory Attendance for Injured Players
Injured players must attend matches in tracksuits and arrive at least an hour before kickoff.
  2. Pre-Match Hotel Stays
The squad is now required to stay in a hotel the night before every game, whether home or away, to ensure focus and unity.

โ€œAmorim insists on being with his players the night before matches,โ€ Bates wrote, adding that this commitment extends even to games at Old Trafford. Additionally, players reportedly did not receive a customary day off before their recent Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt, with the manager focusing on tactical drills in training.

Fitness and Performance Focus

Amorim has also prioritized fitness, reportedly surprised at the lack of intensity displayed by some players during training. Bates noted:

โ€œFitness levels are being closely monitored by Amorimโ€™s conditioning team. Increased sprinting and recovery tests are now part of training as the manager evaluates who he can rely on moving forward.โ€

Five Stars Facing Uncertain Futures

Amorimโ€™s revival plan involves signing players suited to his tactical demands while phasing out those who do not fit. By the end of December, the manager is expected to complete a thorough assessment of every player, according to Bates.

The report highlights five playersโ€”Antony, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, and Jonny Evansโ€”who could be at risk of leaving in January.

Bates explained:
โ€œAmorim isnโ€™t interested in carrying passengers and has told staff heโ€™ll finalize evaluations by the end of December. These assessments may seal the fates of certain players when the transfer window opens.โ€

Transfer Speculation and Future Plans

Among those five, Victor Lindelof has drawn interest from Inter Milan. With his contract expiring in the summer, the Swedish defender could negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs starting January 1. Inter sees Lindelof as a potential addition to refresh their aging defense.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is reportedly nearing a deal for Bayern Munichโ€™s Alphonso Davies, a move described as a “blockbuster signing.”

In other news, club legend Gary Neville labeled an Arsenal player as โ€œthe most annoying bloke in football,โ€ and Amorim hinted at four United players on “time limits,” referring to stars whose minutes are being carefully managed.

Amorimโ€™s strict approach and tactical clarity signal a new era at Old Trafford, but for some players, time may be running out.
