Sevilla is certain of a position in the Europa League, where they will likely join Telles’ parent club, with Borussia Dortmund poised to join Manchester City in making it out of Group G’s last-16.

Alex Telles receives congratulations from Marcus Rashford for winning Sevilla’s first home game.

Telles has started five of the six games under Argentine manager Jorge Sampaoli since the former Marseille manager took over at the beginning of the month.

The 29-year-old will be hopeful that his stint in Sevilla’s starting lineup is enough to earn him a spot in the World Cup roster, but Selecao manager Tite will make the call.

The eight-time Brazil international will be hoping to join Manchester United teammates Fred, Casemiro, and Antony in securing a spot on the plane to Qatar. He started both of the South American nation’s friendlies last month.

The former Porto player has made 15 appearances, nine of which have been starts, and two assists since joining Sevilla on a season-long loan.

The goal of Sevilla’s number three was to secure first team football on loan and increase his chances of making his World Cup debut.

Telles was demoted in the left-back hierarchy with the summer arrival of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, and the Brazilian filled in at center-back and defensive midfield during United’s Tour 2022.
