Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati has claimed her second consecutive Ballon d’Or Féminin, having also won the prestigious award in 2023.
The Catalan star successfully retains football’s top honor after a remarkable season with Barcelona, where she helped the club secure its fifth straight Liga F title and lifted the Champions League trophy. Her outstanding performance saw her outshine teammates Caroline Graham Hansen and Alexia Putellas, as well as Khadija Shaw and Lucy Bronze, to be named the best women’s player in the world.

Bonmati’s victory continues the legacy of her Barcelona and Spain teammate Putellas, who won the award in 2021 and 2022.
Despite Spain’s inability to secure a medal at the summer Olympics, Bonmati played a key role in their UEFA Nations League triumph. Her impressive contributions at both club and international levels earned her a new contract with Barcelona, which she signed in September.
2024 marks the fourth consecutive year that a Spanish player has won the Ballon d’Or Féminin, following the back-to-back victories of Putellas and Bonmati. The award was first presented in 2018, with Ada Hegerberg as the inaugural winner, followed by USWNT legend Megan Rapinoe the following year.
At just 26 years old, Bonmati has already made a strong start to the 2024/25 season, scoring three goals in five appearances. Barcelona currently sits atop Liga F, ahead of their rivals Real Madrid.
