In the case of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, submitted to the Federal Capital Territory High Court’s ruling on Wednesday in Abuja.
Emefiele was hauled before the court in accordance with Justice Olukayode Adeniyi’s directive after being detained by the Federal Government security services for more than 150 days.
Around 12:30, the former CBN Governor—clad in a yellow Babariga and a matching Hausa cap—entered the courtroom, surrounded by a security detail of EFCC agents.

His friends and family had swarmed the courtroom, anticipating the judge’s arrival to hear his case on fundamental human rights.
On Monday, Justice Adeniyi reiterated his directive that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria be produced before the court today, November 8, in order to be granted bail.
Alternatively, he had instructed the anti-graft agency to release Emefiele on bond on its own or allowed the court to do so in accordance with the law’s fundamental human rights requirements.
