Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, recently revealed his final 25-man squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
However, the selection has sparked criticism on social media, with Nigerians questioning the inclusion of Ahmed Musa and expressing concern over the absence of six players: Kelechi Nwakali, Olisa Ndah, Terem Moffi, Gift Orban, Nathan Tella, and Cyriel Dessers. Some also raised concerns about the midfield, arguing that despite the presence of players like Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, and Frank Onyeka, it lacked creativity.
Earlier reports indicated that Peseiro had finalized the Super Eagles squad for the biennial competition, with Valentine Nwabili from Chippa United being the sole newcomer.

Captain Ahmed Musa and his assistant, William Troost-Ekong, were both included in the squad. The team will kick off preparations for the tournament in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, starting on January 1.
Drawn into Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, Peseiro’s men will commence their quest for a fourth AFCON title against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
