Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro emphasized the need for his players to perform at their best in both training sessions and matches to achieve their objectives at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. In an interview with NFF TV, the Portuguese coach also urged the fans to stand by the team, assuring them that the players would give their utmost for Nigeria.
“We have to be at our best in our trainings and in our matches,” Peseiro stated. “The fans should stick with us because we will do the maximum for Nigeria.”
The Super Eagles find themselves in Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. Peseiro acknowledged the challenge posed by these opponents but expressed confidence in his players’ readiness for the competition.

“We will fight to win the AFCON even though it won’t be easy,” said the former Venezuela and Saudi Arabia coach. “Our group is not easy because we are up against Cote d’Ivoire, who have a good squad and are playing at home. Equatorial Guinea reached the quarterfinals at the last AFCON, better than Nigeria, while Guinea-Bissau beat us at home in the qualifiers.”
