The award was given to 100 EKO women in celebration of their trailblazing efforts, motivating young girls, especially women, and making significant contributions to the development of Lagos.

While many Nollywood stars continue to flaunt their honors on social media, Ruth Kadiri’s profile has been devoid of activity, suggesting she may not have gotten an award from the Lagos State Government.

Ruth Kadiri was also overlooked at a significant award ceremony for female Nollywood actors held by the Lagos State government and Mo’ Abudu in 2021.

Ruth Kadiri rushed to her own Instagram profile to express her disappointment with the award’s organizers for failing to find her worthy and deserving.

Ruth claims that the film industry is dominated by women, which is why she was overlooked and did not receive an award.

In her words; “I am a filmmaker. I am a woman. I am a hard-working woman. I have faced the struggles every woman/filmmaker has faced. Did my name at any point pop up yes, but because i do not belong to a click? Yet again, i have been overlooked will not be pressured. I will keep working hard. @lagosstategovt @moabudu @ijayonah @nifsummit thanks for overlooking me and congrats to everyone who got recognized.”
