Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez is eyeing a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) when his contract expires this summer.
Fernandez’s tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu is set to conclude at the end of the season, and recent reports indicate his intention to depart the club.
According to MARCA, Nacho is inclined towards a move to MLS, viewing it as an opportunity for a fresh experience both on and off the field, as well as for his family.

While there is interest from the Saudi Pro League in securing Nacho’s services, his decision is said to be driven not by financial considerations but by a desire for a new challenge.
Nacho has ruled out the prospect of continuing his career in La Liga and is also hesitant about joining another top European club, with Inter reportedly monitoring his situation.
The 34-year-old defender is also aiming for a return to the Spain national team for the Euro 2024 campaign. Although he has not been called up since last summer’s Nations League finals, head coach Luis de la Fuente still holds him in high regard.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti commented on Nacho’s potential departure, stating, “We have to respect the decisions of our players. They’re free to decide whatever they want.”
Nacho has featured in 36 games for Madrid this season and could lead them in the crucial El Clasico against Barcelona. A victory could see Real Madrid extend their lead at the top of La Liga by 11 points, a significant step towards reclaiming the Spanish title from their rivals.
Before departing, Nacho may also lead Madrid in their quest for a 15th Champions League title. After eliminating holders Manchester City in the quarter-finals, they are set to face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, with either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund awaiting the winners at Wembley.
