According to a report, Manchester United would only entertain the possibility of selling Marcus Rashford under two specific conditions. Firstly, Rashford would need to express his desire to leave the club, and secondly, a ‘substantial’ bid for the player would have to be received.

Rashford’s form has been inconsistent during the 2023/24 season, with only eight goals and five assists in 40 appearances for Manchester United. Recent reports suggest that United are open to the idea of Rashford leaving as part of their summer rebuilding plans, with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund being the only players considered off-limits.

However, The Athletic states that Rashford’s potential departure hinges on both criteria being met simultaneously: a significant offer for the forward and his expressed desire to leave the club.

Despite the possibility of Rashford’s departure, United’s preference is to retain the player and help him regain the form he displayed during the 2022/23 season, where he scored a career-best 30 goals and provided 10 assists in 56 games.

Reports earlier this year suggested that Paris Saint-Germain has included Rashford on a shortlist of potential replacements for Kylian Mbappe. Rashford had previously held meetings with PSG in 2022 and 2023 but ultimately chose to stay at United, signing a new contract worth £325,000-a-week last summer.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has publicly supported Rashford amid criticism of his performances this season. Ten Hag emphasized the need for support and encouragement for Rashford to return to his previous levels of excellence, highlighting his belief in Rashford’s capabilities and potential for improvement.
