Manchester United have reportedly reached out to Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel as they consider potential replacements for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has faced challenges throughout the season with Manchester United, leading to widespread speculation about his future at the club. Although he is under contract until 2025, several coaches have been rumored to take over in the summer.

According to Kicker’s Georg Holzner, Manchester United has already made contact with Tuchel and could provide the former Chelsea coach with an opportunity to leave the Bundesliga. Tuchel is set to depart Bayern at the end of the season, having joined the club in March 2023.

Reports suggest that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a part owner of Manchester United, is eager to bring Tuchel to the club as part of his efforts to revamp the team ahead of the 2024/25 season. The 50-year-old manager boasts an impressive resume, including two Ligue 1 titles, a Bundesliga title, and a Champions League trophy. Moreover, he has guided Bayern to the semi-finals of this year’s UEFA Champions League after defeating Arsenal.

However, Tuchel’s Bayern side recently conceded the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, who were crowned champions with a month remaining in the season.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag faced criticism after Manchester United narrowly secured a win over Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final, eventually advancing to the final at Wembley. Despite leading 3-0 before the hour mark, Manchester United allowed the Championship side to force the game into extra time and were only victorious on penalties. The FA Cup represents Manchester United’s last opportunity to secure silverware this season, but they will need to defeat reigning champions Manchester City to do so.
