“Senator Akume is one of the few Nigerians who has had the honor of serving in the state and federal legislative and executive branches of government,” he stated.

A portion of the statement said, “He has distinguished himself as an astute politician and a democrat who has nurtured other politicians over the years.”

The former governor of Benue State was praised by Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as a model politician, patriot, and democrat who is dedicated to the advancement of both the state and Nigeria overall.

He also recalled how hardworkingly Akume served the nation as a senator in the National Assembly, bringing historic measures for the nation’s advancement to his district while also drawing initiatives that would benefit the general populace.

Kalu recalled the SGF’s “Sterling performance as the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration” in a statement released by his Special Assistant, Press Affairs, Udora Orizu.
