Folashade Olalude, a woman, was charged by the police on Friday in the Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrate Court with cyberbullying and threatening to kill a businessman.
The police have filed four counts against the defendant, who was hauled before Chief Magistrate Olwatosin Fowowe-Erusiafe, pertaining to conspiracy, intent to steal, cyberbullying, and threat to kill.
Mr. Henry Obiazi, the prosecutor, informed the court that between 2015 and 2022, the defendant and other individuals who are currently at large plotted together to perpetrate the alleged offenses.

Obiazi informed the court that the defendant had made multiple demands of over N5 million from one Alhaji Lawal Abdullateef with the intent to steal, threatening to harm him or expose his name online as a scammer or use blogs to disparage his reputation and that of his Nollywood actress wife, Lizzy Anjorin, if the demands were not fulfilled.
Additionally, he informed the court that the defendant had threatened to kill the businessman in a letter dated October 20, 2023, and that the defendant had also sent the same threat to Abdullateef’s phone.
The prosecutor claimed that the offenses were against Sections 411, 301, and 232 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law.
Nonetheless, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the allegations that were brought against her.
After she entered a not guilty plea, the prosecutor asked the court to place her in the care of the Nigerian Correctional Services while the charges against her were being decided.
However, I. S. Ijenkeri, the defendant’s attorney, begged the court to grant the prisoner the most generous bail, arguing that the charges against her qualified for it.
Following the hearing of the arguments made by the two attorneys, Magistrate Fowowe-Ersiafe granted the defendant N200,000 in bail, with two sureties in the same amount.
However, the magistrate decided to send the defendant to the NCS facility’s Kirikiri female section until she could satisfy the bail requirements.
Subsequently, Magistrate Fowowe-Ersiafe postponed the trial to March 14, 2024.
