A pregnant woman (name withheld) who was kidnapped at a community in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-North Local Government Area, Ogun State, has been saved by the Ogun State Police Command.
PUNCH Metro was informed of the development on Thursday by Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for Ogun State Police.
Odutola claimed that a group of gunmen had ambushed the couple in front of their home, robbing the expectant wife and abandoning the husband.

“The Divisional Police Officer in Ijebu-Igbo received a distress call about a suspected kidnapping incident,” the PPRO stated in an exclusive interview with PUNCH Metro.
“When a team of policemen arrived at the scene, they saw the husband, but the wife had been kidnapped,” the woman claimed.
The husband was cited by Odutola as stating that “six armed men from out of nowhere suddenly came out of the bush in front of their house and kidnapped the wife while they were entering their house.”
She continued by saying that members of the rescue squad included the DPO, his men, So-Safe Corps agents, Amotekun, and others.
After spending hours looking through the undergrowth, they managed to find and save the woman on Tuesday. She said, “The woman was brought to the hospital for treatment.
Odutola informed our correspondent that kidnappers were currently attempting to operate inside communities.
“The current trend these days is kidnapping people inside communities. In Ogun, we now control the highways. Now, police officers will be seen on the roads. However, the kidnappers have entered the inner villages and are causing havoc. We are going back to the drawing board, but we will get them. There is no place for criminals in this state.
Therefore, we are urging the state’s traditional authorities and community leaders to set up internal security measures to block access and exit points from their areas and provide security personnel with the knowledge they need to help protect people and property. Villagers should assist the police since they are able to recognize strangers in their villages with ease.
“Until criminals are flushed out of the state, wherever they may be, the Ogun State Command, led by Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu, will not relent,” Odutola continued.
