Following a fire that broke out close to the Tudun Wada Juma’at Mosque in Kano, seven family members perished, according to Alhaji Saminu Abdullah, a representative of the Kano State Fire Service.

In Kano, Abdullahi reported on Monday that a father, mother, and five of their children were impacted by the Sunday night incident.

“At approximately 12:25 in the morning, a call regarding a fire breaking out in a structure at Tudun Wada Quarters was received by one Ibrahim Sani at the Dakata Fire Station.

“We promptly dispatched our firefighting vehicle to the scene at approximately 12:30 am upon receiving the information,” he stated.

He claimed that seven unconscious patients were taken to the hospital by firefighters after being pulled from their slightly charred two rooms and parlor.

“The doctor confirmed that seven of them died from smoke inhalation,” he added, adding that further examination showed that by the time firefighters arrived, the electric spark-caused fire had spread beyond control.

In order to prevent fires and other emergencies, he recommended the general population to handle electrical appliances and combustible objects carefully.
