There have been six fatalities and eleven injuries from a multiple vehicle incident on the Kaduna-Zaria expressway.
According to Kabir Nadabo, the Kaduna Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the accident happened on Tuesday at approximately 06:25 hours at the Aliko filling station on the Kaduna-Zaria road.
Nadabo said that speeding and reckless driving were to blame for the numerous accidents, which caused traffic to temporarily stop.

He did, however, add that traffic was now able to flow freely on the route and that Zebra 35 Rigachikun’s rescue squad had been on the site quickly to carry out the rescue.
“23 people were involved in the crash, 11 of them were injured, and tragically, all six of them lost their lives,” Nadabo stated in the crash’s initial investigation.
“The driver was at high speed, lost control, and rammed into a moving vehicle, thus causing the crash,” he added, adding that the inquiry showed the Toyota bus was traveling from Ilesha to Batsari, in Katsina State.
According to Nadabo, drivers from other states, not Kaduna state, are mostly to blame for the majority of traffic accidents on the route, which are brought on by driver weariness.
He said that the FRSC was devastated by this terrible but preventable incident and that it was the organization leading the way in road safety and transport management.
“The Kaduna State Corps will carry out its mandated responsibilities of rescuing lives and property and, above all, raising public awareness of the perils associated with road safety vices and an unethical driving culture.
Because Kaduna state is a vital corridor, the state command has put in place safety tools to educate carriers about the value of traveling safely over the holiday season and beyond.
“Remember, there will be fewer road traffic crashes experienced the more we educate motorists on the significance of cultivating safety behavior on the roads,” he stated.
He urged all parties involved, in especially the transport unions, to assist us in reaching out to their drivers and persuading them to speak the language of safety.
In order to further educate the public on the risks of reckless driving, overloading, operating a vehicle with worn-out tires, and fatigue from extended trips, among other things, Nadabo said that the corps was in communication with media outlets.
On the other hand, he urged all drivers to always practice cautious driving.
In December, the FRSC issued a warning to drivers about overloaded and reckless driving, which includes driving at night.
While leading a special patrol along the Zuba-Kaduna Expressway to guarantee compliance with traffic rules and regulations, Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu made the observation that respecting these laws will result in safer highways and unhindered traffic movement.
