An accident happened on Monday at approximately 1:58 p.m. near the Fidiwo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the reports of five passengers killed and eight injured.

A Mercedes Benz vehicle without a license plate and a Mazda bus with the registration number EKY582 YE were involved in the deadly collision.

According to reports, the truck’s tire blew as it was moving, causing it to lose control and collide with the Mazda bus.

This was said in a statement made by Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps spokesman for the Ogun State Sector Command.

A portion of the announcement said, “The deadly collision happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Fidiwo at around 1358 hours.

A Mercedes Benz lorry with no registration number on it and a Mazda bus with registration number EKY582 YE were among the two involved cars.

There were fifteen people in total—seven adult females and eight adult males. Five adults—three of whom were female and four of whom were male—were reported dead in the collision, leaving eight injured—three of whom were male and one of whom was female.

“Tire burst and speed, which caused the truck to lose control and collide with the bus while moving, are the likely causes of the fatal collision,” the statement reads.

“The sad event that took five lives on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway saddens CC Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of the FRSC Ogun Sector.
