Chelsea right defender Reece James suffered yet another injury in the Blues’ 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, which was his first start after regaining fitness.

The goals from Kai Havertz and Mason Mount helped the Blues defeat the Cherries with ease.

However, James’ injury in the second half derailed Graham Potter’s team’s victory. Just a few minutes after half-time, James collapsed to the ground, his hands covering his face in sorrow. In the 53rd minute, club captain Cesar Azpilicueta replaced him.

James missed the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup due to a knee injury, and he has just fully recovered.

Following the game on Tuesday, Graham Potter reacted to several inquiries about him as follows:

“Not really, no. It is too early. We’re worried because it’s the same place that he previously damaged. In the following 24 to 48 hours, we’ll have to find out.

It’s a little early, but I believe there was a chop and he felt something at that point. We’ll have to wait and see how bad it is while crossing our fingers.

In Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League in October, he sustained a knee injury. James will be examined by the Blues’ medical team, and the team will likely make a statement on the severity of the injury.

Given their terrible performance leading up to the FIFA World Cup break, Potter’s team needed to beat Bournemouth.

The Blues were ninth in the Premier League standings and had lost their previous five league games. But in their first competitive game after the World Cup, Chelsea excelled.

Havertz scored their first goal, converting Sterling’s cross past Cherries goalkeeper Mark Travers by slipping in at the back post. The next goal came from Mount, who curled the ball past Travers from outside the box.
