Following his victory in this year’s Ballon d’Or, Benzema, 35, was initially selected for France’s team to travel to Qatar.

However, the Real Madrid attacker was expelled after suffering a thigh injury prior to the start of the competition.

According to reports, Benzema’s injury wasn’t significant enough to prevent him from competing in the entire World Cup.

But as the game went on, Deschamps resisted using the ace again.

As a result, Benzema declined Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to see France’s loss to Argentina in the penalty shootout.

He then announced his resignation from the international stage, shocking his audience.

It has recently been reported that Benzema split with four of his French friends before calling it quits.

Additionally, his agent Djaziri added fuel to the fire by stating Benzema was well enough to play in France’s knockout games.

He criticized Deschamps on social media for not recalling Benzema, claiming that scans of the thigh injury showed the striker was healthy enough to play.

The diagnosis that Benzema may have been fit from the last 16 to at least be on the bench is confirmed by three physicians, according to Djaziri, who said: “I placed that there but before that I consulted them.

Why did you request his departure so urgently?

Before Qatar 2022, Benzema and Deschamps already had a contentious relationship.

Up until 2015, Benzema was a regular for France, but he was barred from the game for his suspected part in sex tape blackmailing teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

He was found guilty of involvement in November 2021 and given a £63,000 fine as well as a one-year suspended prison sentence by a Versailles court.

Just a few months before, Benzema was initially called up by Deschamps for France’s Euro campaign, and he scored four goals before their round of 16 exit.

Deschamps may shortly be replaced by Zinedine Zidane, according to sources, thus it is unclear how long the argument will continue.
