As he gears up to face Argentina in the competition’s quarterfinal on Friday night, the Netherlands international is having a strong World Cup run thus far.
Gakpo has participated in all four of Holland’s games thus far in the competition, scoring in three of them.
Before the World Cup began, the 23-year-old was a sought-after player, and reports suggest that Real Madrid and Arsenal are both interested in signing him.
In order to make their stamp on the team, co-owner Todd Boehly and head coach Graham Potter will be busy over the next two of transfer windows at Chelsea. Although a transfer in January looks unlikely, former right-back Johnson has urged the Blues to think about trying to make a move after the current campaign.
Johnson added, “Cody Gakpo has really caught my attention during the World Cup,” in an interview with FairBettingSites. It’s difficult to score at this level, and he seems the real deal with the way he plays and moves and reads the game.
“In terms of personnel, Chelsea need Gakpo more than Liverpool. Chelsea have always had wonderful wingers, but they never scored goals, if you don’t get in those positions to score goals there’s not much use in you being in the club. Gakpo appears to be capable of succeeding in the Premier League and would likely make an impact similar to what Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have done for Liverpool.
Even though Gakpo is representing the Netherlands at the World Cup, there are many concerns about where he will play football in the future. The Dutchman, though, maintains stating that he wants to concentrate on the current battle before making any firm decisions about his future.
Gakpo stated at the conclusion of the previous month, “Right now, I’m working with the Dutch squad. “In the winter, I’ll monitor the situation. Anything is possible in football.
“Now my attention is on the World Cup. Though it’s always nice to hear, I just concentrate on this and try my best. I’m not afraid of rumors.
“However, since it involves a team, it is not just about one person. I would much rather it be about the team. Although I appreciate the kind words, I am not overly concerned.”
However, Chelsea will put more emphasis on strengthening their midfield in the upcoming transfer windows. The club is trying to sign at least two new central midfielders as Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s futures are far from clear.
Chelsea continues to have Edson Alvarez on its radar, according to recent reports. As the summer transfer window came to a conclusion, the Blues made a £43 million bid for the Mexican player, but Ajax were desperate to cling onto him.
However, Declan Rice is Chelsea’s top priority. Although a transfer in January looks improbable, there is a suggestion that West Ham United will be more open to selling Rice after the season given his contract status and unwillingness to stay in east London longer.

The former Chelsea and England defender continued, “A transfer for Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice has been on the cards for a long time.” “They both should soon have a significant job, you’d think.
“Bellingham and Rice both have plenty of choices. They would gnaw their arm off to have both players, and both would aid Liverpool and Chelsea.
“However, I’m not sure if Mason Mount’s situation has been resolved yet. I can see Rice moving to Chelsea. You shouldn’t go to a club because one of your closest friends is there, in my opinion.”
While Mount is representing England, negotiations with Chelsea over a new and improved deal at Stamford Bridge have been put on hold. Although Mount wants guarantees about what his long-term role will be, there is a general consensus within the club that a favorable solution is possible.
When questioned about the circumstance recently, the 23-year-old gave a response. He stressed that while he represented the Three Lions, he would not permit himself to get sidetracked by off-field happenings, or lack thereof in this case.
The Cobham graduate remarked last month, “Since I was in the academy, I’ve always been focused on my football. “I am aware that I am receiving a lot more media attention, but I do
