Officials from Inter Milan have acknowledged that they only paid £6.7 million to borrow Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for the 2018–19 season.
Lukaku, 29, initially departed Inter in a spectacular £97.5 million trade to join Chelsea in 2021.
But during the summer transfer window, he left Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season and went back to Italy.

Officials from Inter have since disclosed that they were able to sign the Belgian international on loan for just £6.7m, which is a small fraction of the sum they paid Chelsea less than a year ago.
Additionally, a loan agreement for the 2023–24 season is also in the works, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
According to reports, Lukaku wants to stay at the San Siro for the foreseeable future, and both teams want to prolong the loan.
Due to a hamstring injury, the striker’s time with Inter Milan has gotten off to a rocky start.
In his four appearances so far across all competitions, he has scored twice.
He did, however, play again on Wednesday night as Simone Inzaghi’s team defeated Viktoria Plzen 4-0 to go to the knockout rounds of the Champions League, eliminating La Liga powerhouse Barcelona in the process.
Inter Milan is doing quite well in the Champions League, but they are having some difficulty in Serie A.
The Black and Blues are currently ranked seventh in the league, five points behind second-placed foe AC Milan.
With nine victories from 11 games, Napoli is in first place.
