On Wednesday night, Barcelona will face Bayern Munich at Camp Nou in an effort to keep itself in the running for a spot in the Champions League knockout round.
The Catalans are currently in third place in Group C, three points behind Inter Milan, who would advance if they defeated Viktoria Plzen earlier that evening. Bayern is in first place with 12 points after winning all four of their sectional games to qualify for the round of 16 with two games remaining.
On Sunday, Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 4-0 thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele, Sergi Roberto, Robert Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres.

Barcelona’s performance in the Champions League group stage has not been impressive. Prior to Wednesday’s encounter, they trail Inter by three points with just four points from four games.
Inter’s victory over Viktoria Plzen will eliminate Barcelona’s chances of making it to the round of 16. The team led by Xavi finished third in the group and earned a return trip to the Europa League.
The La Liga heavyweights need a favor from Plzen and then to defeat Bayern, but they have only earned one point from their last three matches in the competition after losing consecutive matches to Bayern and Inter and then drew 3-3 with Inter at Camp Nou on October 12.
In their most recent two home games, Barcelona defeated Villarreal 3-0 and Athletic Bilbao 4-0, although they were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid in the El Clasico on October 16 and have had trouble in Europe this year. Now, Xavi’s club will play one of the top squads in Europe.
Bayern has won its last four games overall, including a 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday. They are currently two points behind Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
Munich, which has six European Cup victories, lost to Villarreal last season and PSG on away goals in the quarterfinals.
Bayern hasn’t lost against Barcelona since the first leg of the 2014–15 Champions League semifinals, when they were defeated 3-0 at Camp Nou. They will be declared the group winners with a victory on Wednesday, or first if Inter loses to Plzen.
