Cristiano Ronaldo has been encouraged by Gabby Agbonlahor to adopt the same approach as his longstanding rival Lionel Messi in order to adjust to his diminished role at Manchester United.
After the game, Ronaldo was seen departing Old Trafford after his team’s convincing two-goal victory over Tottenham.
He reportedly departed the room before his victorious colleagues did, according to some reports.

The Portuguese star has come under fire for what he did following the game.
Erik ten Hag, manager of United, commented on the situation shortly after the game: “He (Ronaldo) was there, I have seen him, but I didn’t speak. I’ll take care of things tomorrow, not today.
Only one of United’s last eight Premier League games, and none of the six wins during that time, have seen Ronaldo start.
He did, however, score the game-winning goal against Everton after coming on as an early replacement for Anthony Martial.
Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, must deal with his waning influence and significance within the United team. He has been advised to learn from Messi, with whom he has had a fierce rivalry on the field for more than ten years.
Messi is having to adjust to the fact that he is no longer his team’s star performer now that he is at Paris Saint-Germain.
Although he is two years younger and more well-known than Ronaldo, there are parallels in their diminishing positions at the top of their respective sports.

When asked if United manager Ten Hag was managing the situation well on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor responded, “I think he is yeah.
“I believe that Ronaldo needs to consider the fact that he is underperforming in the game and that they have a wealth of talented players at their disposal.
They have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga, both of whom can be added. I watch a lot of PSG games, and [Messi] is frequently taken off the field.
He goes away without throwing a fit, shakes the manager’s hand, and then sits on the bench.
“I don’t think you can have that feeling that ‘I can’t be brought off, I’m Ronaldo,’ just because you are this amazing player,” said the player.
“There are players who can come on and take your place if you’re not performing. Simply handle things better,” Agbonlahor continued.
