King of Thieves by Femi Adebayo, Eleshin Oba: The King’s Horseman by Biyi Bandele, and Anikulapo by Kunle Afolayan all advanced to the Oscars 2023 selection round final.

However, the NOSC declared in September that no movie would be sent to the Oscars after Elesin Oba received votes from five of its fifteen members and votes from Anikulapo and King of Thieves from one member each.

In a tweet on Tuesday in response to the extension, Femi Adebayo expressed his optimism that King of Thieves will win the prize and make Nollywood a household name.

Nollywood Actor Femi Adebayo visit Emir of ilorin

Emir Zulu Gambari of Ilorin received a courtesy call from Nigerian actor Femi Adebayo.

Femi Adebayo posts a picture of himself posing with the emir of Ilorin after gaining his blessing.

Sharing the photo, he wrote:

Receiving royal blessings from HRM EMIR ZULU GAMBARI OF MY HOME TOWN ILORIN I feel honoured,…the reception was awesome.…Ose olorun.

His visit has generated mixed reactions, as a fan jokingly says that, he should process the spirit of Jelili (his comic character) in the presence of the Emir.
