In response, Lewandowski emphasized his skills and propensity for scoring goals, telling the crowd that he would keep finding the back of the net and strive to retain his top-scoring position the following year.

At the Ballon d’Or honors, Robert Lewandowski took home the newly formed Gerd Muller Trophy.

The 34-year-old remarked, “The season is quite lengthy, and I know for me it’s also a new chapter with Barcelona,” after accepting his prize. Since the beginning of this club, I’ve felt great.

“From the first minutes, I saw that with my team-mates we have huge potential and I have the opportunity to score a lot of goals,” the Barcelona striker stated. I have no doubt that everyone is contributing to this.

The subject of the potential challenge from the upcoming crop of strikers was then discussed by Lewandowski.

“This is football, so we have to be prepared at all times.” I am aware that a new generation is also emerging, yet I am still present.

Lewandowski has scored nine goals in nine league games for Barcelona to start the new season on a strong note and show the football world that he is still around.

Erling Haaland is one of the strikers from the upcoming generation that will be vying for this honor.

The Poland captain also discussed how significant it is to him to get the Gerd Muller Award.

In addition to winning, this trophy’s name also makes me feel joy, happiness, and pride. The former Bayern Munich striker added that Gerd was a tremendous inspiration.

I always wanted to surpass some of his marks and get closer to him before the season. It was always quite difficult.

“Scoring 41 goals in the Bundesliga was incredibly emotional for me since I didn’t think it was possible to break this record,” I said. I did everything for him.

With 41 goals in one season last year, Lewandowski eclipsed Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record.
