In 2022, Manchester City will receive the Ballon d’Or award for Club of the Year.
The honor, which was first given out last year when Chelsea won the Champions League, goes to the team with the most nominations in both the men’s and women’s categories. City wins the Club of the Year award for the second consecutive year because they have more players than any other club, including Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Lucy Bronze, and Ederson, who are nominated in three distinct categories.
Despite their lack of Champions League success, City’s strength in numbers in the race for individual recognition in Europe shows the improvement they are making. In a blow to Gareth Taylor’s squad, the women’s team fell at the opening hurdle this season, also to Real Madrid, while the men’s team suffered an agonizing semifinal loss to Real Madrid.

“Manchester City can be proud of today. Being named Club of the Year is an honor and emphasizes the club’s success in both men’s and women’s football, according to CEO Ferran Soriano.
We take great pride in winning games and playing excellent football. We are proud of the caliber of the players and every member of the support staff who works tirelessly to keep us successful. This award honors the effort and commitment put forth by each department within our organization.
We will keep working toward success, but today I want everyone associated with Manchester City Football Club to pause and be happy of everything we accomplished in the previous campaign.
