Officials from Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne have responded to the club being named the 2022 Ballon d’Or Club of the Year on Monday night.
The defending Champions League winners Real Madrid and English top-flight rivals Liverpool competed against the Premier League champions to capture the trophy.
The Merseyside club replicated Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title finish from the previous season by finishing second to Manchester City on the evening in Paris.

Several key members of Manchester City were present on what was a historic night for the entire organization to share their thoughts on one of the team’s most memorable experiences.
“This is a fantastic day for Manchester City,” CEO Ferran Soriano stated in response to the honor.
Being named Club of the Year is an honor and emphasizes the club’s strength in both men’s and women’s football.
“We are proud of the quality of the players and all the staff behind the scenes who help make us successful,” he continued, “and we pride ourselves on playing beautiful football and winning matches.
“This award honors the effort and commitment that can be seen in every division of our organization.
We will keep working toward success, but today I want everyone associated with Manchester City Football Club to pause and be happy of everything we accomplished in the previous campaign.
At the Ballon d’Or event in Paris on Monday, Manchester City’s sports director Txiki Begiristain complimented head coach Pep Guardiola in particular for his abilities and work.
“It’s a constant evolution – there is always something new almost every day,” said Begiristain. “Pep (Guardiola) is just brilliant.
“And it’s built on work ethic and respect for our rivals and the events we participate in.
“In general, he is a kind guy. When we lose, he constantly leads and motivates us to improve, and when we win, he shares everything with everyone, including kit men and chefs.”
