Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a forward for Chelsea, recalls the “wonderful” feeling of playing yesterday night against AC Milan, his previous team.

Aubameyang started his senior career at Milan, but he never played for the Rossoneri due to a series of loan stints in France before committing permanently to Saint-Étienne in 2011. After that, people moved on to Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea.

He scored yesterday night against his former team by scoring a close-range shot following a cross from Reece James on the right wing. James scored his own goal to make it 3-0 after that made it 2-0.

Our friends at SempreMilan reported Aubameyang’s thoughts to TMW in regards to what it felt like to face off against his former team and earn a crucial three points.

“I’m quite thrilled. It was really wonderful to beat my old squad. Particularly in front of our supporters, we needed a response, so we are pleased with the three points. It was fantastic for me since I’ve wanted to play against Milan for a very long time, and yesterday it finally occurred. I’m really happy and it’s always good,” he remarked.

Rafael Leao was in the spotlight prior to the match due to rumors of a summer transfer to Chelsea, and he was one of the few genuine bright lights in an assault that struggled to find any real cohesiveness.

“He is a fantastic player; he is really amazing. He is extremely powerful, quick, and capable of changing things at any time. Nothing else to add besides the fact that he is amazing,” Aubameyang stated.

The Gabon forward concluded his remarks by calling Milan “a difficult team to play against, playing football extremely well. To be quite honest, I didn’t anticipate them to be this powerful, but I believe we had the proper intensity to defeat them yesterday.
